You just made my day! I've got a Truxedo Lo-Pro QT because I always thought putting a cap on would be rather permanent. Now I know what I'm gonna save for!:act035:

I have the Leer on my '07
Vertical clearance at the centre is 29-3/4"
This is good for a width of 31"
Then the clearance is 28-3/4" where the hinges are.
Measures were taken from the high 'ridges' of the bed, not allowing for a mat.
Hope that helps.

If I didn't need to haul so many tools, I would go without a cap.
KWOODMAN: Thank you very much for taking the time to post. I wound up getting the OEM Tonneau Cover again. For the equipment I typically haul, with the rear seat folded up, I get just over 43" of clearance yet have limited width (which works for 90% of the equipment I haul 100% of the time). When requirements are more than the back seat can handle, I'll have to strap it in the cargo area as before.

Re: LEER cap install (more info Pls)

Hey all - I finally got my LEER cap installed. As you can see, I've added a Yakima roof rack. One of the options was to have Thule tracks installed and these work perfectly with the Yakima landing pad 1. I also had the electric lock installed which locks the cap with the auto door locks. One thing I noticed is that due to the very slight downward slope (towards the back) of the cap, the front rack is very slightly higher than the rear rack. This shouldn't be a problem since I also put on the fairing (so I'm not 'catching' any wind while driving) and also, since the bike trays tilt down slightly, it offsets it (from a purely cosmetic standpoint).

Bottom line is my dogs are happy because they get to ride with me again and I'm happy because my interior doesn't look like it was shot with an insulation gun filled with dog hair. About 3500 miles so far and I absolutely love this vehicle.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Craigger,
This post is old and hope you still have the truck, anyone that has a cap don't show how it is installed on the inside. I've had various caps on my GMC and Toyota pickups, so my concern is how they clamp or install the Leer Cap. Would you have any pictures on the inside showing us how the cap is actually installed.
Anything would be helpful as I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a cap.
Thanks
Den

The Leer cap install...as far as installing the cap itself...is pretty easy. You'll need a extra set of hands, as the cap is not light (around 150 lbs. if memory serves); but bascially you set it on the back of the truck, line it up, and there are 4 "J" hooks used to secure the cap. You hook the J-hooks to the cargo tie-downs, run the top of the J-hook through the hole in the rail of the cap, put on the washer/nut, and tighten. That's it. Pretty easy.

See Figure 15 and 16 in the document below to see what I am talking about:

Thanks for that quick response, much appreciated!

No worries...that is what is forum is for, right? :act024:

I have the Leer with the light and power locks. I have hooked up the brake light, but I have not had a chance to connect power to the light and power lock yet. Looks like a bit of work to connect the lock acuator and I am still trying to decide if I want to wire the light directly to the battery or to the bed lights.

Anyway...If/when I hook everybody up, I will post pictures of the process.

Re: LEER cap install (more info Pls)

Wow - can't believe this thread is still alive. Looking at my original post, my girlfriend that I referenced is now my wife and we have 2 little girls. Unfortunately I sold the Ridgeline (although I do really miss it) since we've gotten into RVing. I needed something that could tow a heavier load so I ended up with a Ram 2500 w/a 6.7 Cummins. Tows like a champ and nicely appointed but like I said, I miss the smoothness and every day drive-ability of the RL.

I'm in the process of installing Yakima tracks on my LEER canopy so I can have a 3rd bar for extended loads. Did you install your own? I thought I was doing a great job by running a line with the other tracks. However, when I measured the distance between the tracks, the tracks were not parallel. Upon closer inspection, it seems like the canopy is a bit wider at the front vs. the rear. Starting over by laying a center line then measuring out from there. (Luckily I hadn't drilled any holes yet).
