Passenger Front Axle - NAPA Auto - Replaced

So today I replaced my front passenger axle there's only one video with very minimal five seconds for the coverage on it on YouTube. So I was already pretty familiar with axles in general. The passenger side has a dust Cover of some sorts that comes off after you've removed the old axle, and it appears should be transferred to the new axle.

The issue I ran into is that the which I checked twice with Napa auto, didn't halve a new dust flange with that but when doing so I noticed that placement doesn't say exactly the same as the OEM. With the OEM there's about a quarter inch refill of the axle showing passed the dust flange. With the new axle it insets a 16th of an inch. I was unable to Seat the new axle worry Clint with that flange but seeds and drives just fine without it. I'm still concerned that there should be a flange to protect from liquid debris etc. getting into that shaft can anybody help me out?

Here's an excellent thread on axle replacement including a video:
https://www.ridgelineownersclub.com...nstalls-how-s/115426-how-2007-honda-ridgeline-front-axle-replacement-video.html

I replaced both driver's and passenger's axles on my previous 06 with OEM ones and had no issue with any "dust cover" coming loose and needing to be transferred on the passenger side. Passenger side did require using a long probe and a hammer to tap out towards the passenger wheel. The linked thread and video goes over the process quite well. . . .Without pictures it will be very hard to give you advice.

Not much help now, but in general there have been ample reports of issues with aftermarket axles (including NAPA) when used on the GenI Ridgeline.

Im refering to that video in my comment - It's good, for the front Driver Side. The Other size is a couples seconds. (it doesnt refer to the dust sheild, and also doesnt refer to if you need OEM an since that's all that will work... no links. Trust me I've searched a very sinple to the Point search term. Nothing comes up.

That being said.

Im attaching two images. 2nd image is the part that NAPA only has. I've install it, it's fine and no issue, minus what I mentioned in my Post (forseable issues in the future with Debre and liquids... maybe....)

The 1st picture is a Stock on. The Dust sheild, is removeable and but again it doesnt match the fittment to the other one.. Maybe I'll just go and pick up an OEM. but it's doubel the price... ?

If you look on Ebay for new aftermarket passenger axles for the the Ridgeline most will come with the part you are referring to as the dust shield. I certainly wouldn't install the NAPA part without the dust cover and if the OEM one doesn't fit then its seems like you are stuck.

Again, there are been MANY reports of issues with aftermarket axles and the GenI. Some have obvious issues during installation and others have vibration (etc) after install.

That said, the fellow who did the video (the thread has good info too BTW) used an aftermarket axle. It didn't seem like he had any issues with a call back after the replacement.

The way I look at it is that the axle replacement is a physically demanding job that is a PIA to redo. I also plan on keeping my vehicles for a long time. Since there are plenty of reports of issues with the axle fitment, using an OEM part is a no brainer for me. Yes it costs a lot more but my time is valuable and so is the reliability of my daily driver.
