I see the Hanover police truck all the time, and it does look good. I even paused passing the high school the other day (Officer and car out front) and let em know how nice she looks. My wife says she see's it all the time when she drives past the station to work. Good job guys

Honda could/should make a great Television commercial from this one and they can honestly say that it WAS the Hanover NH Police Department's choice.
I've tried getting in touch with Honda (Gary Flint ?) but get no response. I few changes on the production line and they could be cranking these out as police packages. Could easily take a lot of the Explorer and Expedition market.

Wondering what type of performance mods that thing has?
Also wonder if it does have modifications, would Honda void its warranty because its a police vehicle.
We've not done anything to it that should void any warranty.

Castro, I think you passed by one day while I was turning into the station. Stop and see me if you're going by again, I'd like to see your lift.

yea very nicely done up cruiser, definitely would turn a few heads.
So after the last few months I am sure most of the department has had a chance to try it out, what is the consensus? Would the department do this type of vehicle again?
I'll do one of these again if they're still being made in 5 years. Not sure what will replace it if the RL is not in production. Nothing available that covers all the bases for us - trunk, column shifter. The AWD Ford Police Interceptor with 365 HP could definitely limit our 4x4 needs.

A recent car mag ( I think Motortrend) had a brief article on future cop cars given the discontinuation of the crown vic. The AWD interceptor was definitely tops. The dodge charge seemed to have too many issues. However, the looks of the Holden converted into Chevy Caprice was pretty sweet. The upstart company carbon motors (http://www.carbonmotors.com/) has a diesel powered ride. All in all, hard to beat the AWD interceptor though. Regardless, wouldn't want any of them flashing the lights behind me. :act063:

If Honda has any sense, they would cater to the niche for Police Ridgeline's.

That is a really cool and very functional Ridgeline. Way to Go!!!!!!!!:car004:

Thanks shootermom and Cajun Country for the comments.

Spartan: Not sure I can work Swartswood in because of budget concerns. However, if I could connect with Honda and get them interested in looking at this, I might be able. I've tried getting in touch with Gary Flint, but nothing.

I am amazed at the number of views on this thread, 10,200+!!

Alternator Upgrade Update:

We found that there is no room in the Nippondenso alternator to add any capacity to it, so we bought a new alternator and sent it to Ohio Generator http://www.ohiogen.com/ for a smaller pulley. They promised at least a 20 amp increase at idle. Awesome service with a fast turnaround from them. Thanks guys!

Our fleet mechanics installed it and had to downsize the belt, but we've yet to test it to see what the output is. The OEM alternator was turning 78 amps at idle and we were drawing 88 amps with everything (factory and aftermarket) turned on. So a 20 amp increase should put the amperage in the black and allow the battery isolator to perform properly.

I think I may be in the market for a new alternator. I found this one online...

at 196 amps output, 60 over stock, I think this may be the way to go for me! Unfortunately, I still don't know squat about electronics, so I'm going to have to take my truck into a shop that specializes in that sort of thing to have them double check my setup to see if it needs adjustment, improvement or if it's doing fine.

I WANT THAT!

And, thank you for your service, keeping us whining civilians safe.

Hey, how about my Police RL....;act028: :act024: :act024: :act029:
