This might help. I replaced my RV mirror 10 years ago and remember the struggle. I don't remember the fix. but I think it was pretty simple once I realized how the mount worked.

 

Not sure if you are up for an upgrade, but I put in an aftermarket rear view mirror because the "plain jane" mirror was just too cheap-feeling for me. It has Homelink capability so I can control my garage doors with buttons on the bottom of the mirror (unfortunately my newest garage door opener requires a add'l component to work with my Homelink mirror). It also auto-dims and had a compass. One of the best and easiest upgrades I have done for my Ridge. I also recall there being a power source wired to the area as well. Highly suggested if you are so inclined.

 

How about a link to the mirror upgrade you bought? Also, it might be helpful to put your year and trim in your signature since the forum software no longer puts that info under the vatar.
