Take it in for a wheel balance and alignment and go from there

 

Don't bother with a regular weight balancing. Go straight to road-force balancing. Only a few shops have the equipment for this. However, it will do much to rule out tires and wheels as an issue.

 

Are the (new) front tires the exact same size as the rears?

Has the rear differential fluid been changed on schedule?

Do the above checks first. Then look for a leaking rear strut.

Also, I don't know what kind of weather you get where you live, but we just had around 8 inches of snow. On the interstate today, the steering wheel was shaking pretty badly at 65mph and the back end was wobbling all around. I pulled over to see what was going on. Frozen snow and ice was packed inside of the rims causing the wheels to be imbalanced - causing the shaking. This may be something you want to check out, it's not something most people really think about...

 

Diagnosis is a bearing. The fix supposedly $600. I am checking around.

 

$600 for a bearing? You have to be kidding! Are you anywhere near Cincinnati? This is a 1 hour job at best. If you are, PM me.

It does sound like it could be the front RIGHT wheel bearing, especially if it gets louder when you shift the weight, by veering left.

I hope they get it right or you might have a Blue, Blue Christmas.

Shop around. There are parts list and prices here: www.hondapartsdeals.com Labor shouldn't be much more than 2 hours, but what do I know? You can also get parts from NAPA, etc.

we think it is the right bearing. $600 was Midas including parts and labor. I found the part a Pep Boys for $117.

 

It was the right bearing. Found the part for $79 at Kragen. Mechaninc buddy put it in. Total cost: $96
