Why does a post like this go on for 3 years and always shows up at the top of the latest posts ? I'm trying to find the latest stuff, not 3 year old posts. And then other posts, for whatever reason, get shut down after only being open for a day or two ? What's up with that ? Can't this post be archived like others and be found just by using the search option instead of leaving it open for eternity ? Just saying
Some topics are "pinned" (note the thumbtack icon) because they are (or once were) hot topics.

The other posts aren't shut down, they just move down the pages of topics as new replies come in daily. Pretty much they way all forums work.

wonder if there is a way to further extend them.. i can barely fit a 30+ gallon tote past the doors in the backseat
tonneau sits low enough that i cannot slide a tote under it when using the bed for trash runs to the dump so i put the tote in the backseat with my cardboard and such
Why did you purchase a Ridgeline in the first place if it will not work for you?

I was unhappy with my 2020 RL rear door openings and ordered a set of checkers (72340/72380-TG7-A02), took out one of the old ones and it is identical to the parts I ordered. The "old" was not stamped w/ part number but apparently the '20 models incorporated the change everyone has asked for. I measured the "old" opening at around 29" but I'd like a bit more if possible (I saw a photo that showed an opened door nearly perpendicular with the body). At any rate I have a set for any '17-'19 owners I can send them for a good price (assuming there's still someone that hasn't completed this easy hack after so much has been discussed about it!)

The parts were from Colonial Honda, Dartmouth, MA for $24.06, shipping $8.27, for a total of $32.33. That's in line with what I've seen but I have no idea how much UPS or USPS shipping would be from NC. I can go $15 plus shipping.

I just received my 2 door checkers to modify the rear door opening on my 2017 Black Edition. My initial confusion is that they sent me front door checkers?? Do I assume that this is the modification....ie....putting front door checkers on the rear doors? My second confusion is why are the 2 checkers different lengths?? I ordered these from Honda Parts Direct. When I called my Honda Dealership's Parts Manager, he said that he had never heard of any way to make the rear doors open any wider. Has anyone had their dealership service department install these? How much labor did they charge you?...I know they say it is simple to do it yourself, but I am afraid that I will break the door panel clips.

There is a long thread on this elsewhere, but here's my two cents.

Putting the front door checkers on the back doors is what allows them to open wider. That's the "hack".

They might appear to be different lengths in the package if one is more "open" than the other. Look up the part numbers on the packages you have to verify which ones you got. If they are the front door checkers you should be good.

I installed them myself on my truck. Not hard, but if you've never done anything like that before then I understand your trepidation. Any mechanic should be able to install them. I have no idea what the labor charge would be, but I suspect they'd charge at least an hour's labor.

You could always buy a pack or two of the door clips just in case if you wanted to try it yourself. As long as you don't work on it in cold temps I would say it's not that likely you'd break one.

I agree with this. They would probably charge an hour or so, so $150-200 would be my guess. I also installed mine and it was pretty easy to do, assuming you have done some work like this before.

EDIT: And just throwing it out there, anyone in the DFW area that wants help installing them, I would be glad to lend a hand.

I had this done on my 2017 when it was at the dealer for some other maintenance. I think they charged me $125 in labor, worth it to me.

The checkers for the 2017 are identical, or at least they were back in 2017.

And yes, they are the front door checkers; they HAVE to be, otherwise you'd have ordered the shorter rear ones that you already have? Not sure why you're surprised here..

Also, you can order two of either door, as they simply flip over and work with the opposite door. In fact, back in 2017 when one side wasn't available for months, this is exactly what I did. (Don't remember if it was two rights or lefts, but doesn't matter).

If you got two different lengths, I'd check the part numbers closely. Post #1 has them for you.

Awww, heck, I'm bored, so here ya go....

P/N Left: 72380-TG7-A02 (replaces 72380-TG7-A01)
P/N Right: 72340-TG7-A02 (replaces 72340-TG7-A01)

Here you go, guys. The 2020 rear checkers will allow the doors to open wider, but only if you also replace the hinges. Check out my video.

Gravis thanks for the post. I bought the updated door checkers for my 2019 Ridgeline Sport. Changed the passenger side and noticed no difference. seemed like sure thing according to You Tube Ugh.
At least the cost was reasonable. Not going to bother with the hinges.

One of the best MODS I have done to my truck. I have an ICECO fridge that lives behind the drivers seat and without this mod I would not have been able to even install it.

Finally got tired of the limited opening and ordered a set of checkers for my 2019 - they arrived the week it was totaled :(. They're still in the original packaging - ii anyone wants them, pay the shipping and they're yours. FWIW, I'm in Norfolk VA.
If you still have them, I'd be interested in them...I just joined the forum a day ago, so forum won't let me message you. My email is aubienittany @ Gmail dot com
