Well now. I did this mod a week after I drove my new (new to mw) 2019 RTL-E home. Here's the back story

I'd been talking to my wife about trading in my Colorado for a Ridgeline for about a year, Three weeks ago I was at a gas station w/Mrs filling up her CRV. The guy next to me is pumping gas into a 2019 Ridgeline he'd purchased 2 days before. As he's telling me about his new Ridgeline I asked my wife to take a look at his truck. We both pull over, away from the pump area, and he's showing my wife all about his new truck. She likes most of what she sees and then makes a comment about how far the doors DON'T swing open, She said we have grandkids w/car seats. Might be a problem. He tells her, "I read where there's something you can do to make them wider."

Two days after we talked to the guy at the gas station I buy my own 2019. I remember what he said about opening the rear doors more. Did some research, found the video mentioned above and bought the parts. A week after bringing my Ridgeline home those extender bar s(or whatever they're called) are installed on my truck.

Fantastic, cheap and easy mod!
Gusto!

Now I am confused, it is implied that they are NOT interchangeable, and I THINK I read they are not. Views?
Doesn't matter. Buy one of each, or two of either part #, when you flip it over, it works on either door.

I have owned a 2006 1st generation and a 2019 2nd generation Ridgeline. When I got the new one, they asked me how I liked it. I told them that I liked everything except that the back doors didn't open nearly as far. They acted like they had never heard of this before! I'm glad to see that 1500 other people had the same issue as I did, Wonder why the hell Honda did this?

wonder if there is a way to further extend them.. i can barely fit a 30+ gallon tote past the doors in the backseat
So what are you using the bed for, plenty of room for multiple 30gal totes? If you are worried about security, get one of the fiberglass tonneau covers by UnderCover or aluminum tonneau covers from Diamondback.

tonneau sits low enough that i cannot slide a tote under it when using the bed for trash runs to the dump so i put the tote in the backseat with my cardboard and such

Isn't the tonneau... moveable? Mine takes about 4 seconds to retract and allow me to use the full bed.

hello. Laziness is a skill. As proof… I can’t possibly go through 1500 posts to find the appropriate link to the items. Does anyone have the link or part numbers for left and right door checkers for a 2022 RTL-E? Thanks.

As @zroger73 stated 5 posts before yours "The 2020+ already has the longer checkers and different hinges from the factory. " So your 2022 does not qualify for this thread, Honda already did the fix for you.

Update 1-22-20: New details have emerged on 2020 rear hinges. It looks like the prefered method for 2017-2019 models who want larger rear opening should use the front door checks from 2017-2019 on rear. The 2020 rear door checks require 2020 rear hinges to function properly on 2017-2019 models. See post #1294 for video explination. Thanks gravis86!

Original Post:
I increased the rear door opening by installing a set of front door stops/ checks on the rear and it works perfectly. No rubbing or conflicts of any sort.

P/N Left: 72380-TG7-A02 (replaces 72380-TG7-A01)
P/N Right: 72340-TG7-A02 (replaces 72340-TG7-A01)

How to install in post #412 (Thanks ValJean9430)

My 2017 RTL-E had the narrow opening of the rear doors. However, my 2022 RTL-E does not. Seems as though Honda got the message and fixed it. Before, I could not even get my dog ramp to lay flat because the door opening was so narrow. Now, no problem at all.

Why does a post like this go on for 3 years and always shows up at the top of the latest posts ? I'm trying to find the latest stuff, not 3 year old posts. And then other posts, for whatever reason, get shut down after only being open for a day or two ? What's up with that ? Can't this post be archived like others and be found just by using the search option instead of leaving it open for eternity ? Just saying

If we did that, you wouldn't have been able to leave this comment. ;)
