What age demographic is the Ridgeline aimed at?

Is the Ridgeline aimed at younger, older, or middle aged buyers? I think it's more aimed at middle aged folk. It's not exactly a flashy vehicle, it's not an off road vehicle (though it can do some), and the color choices aren't stand outs. Plus, being able to seat 5 comfortably it's a good family vehicle. Maybe if they would get the look right (most admit the looks are it's only downfall) and some better color choices the truck would appeal (more) to the college/just out of college age group.

the Look is what got me from the start. I am 25 and about to have a full family (Bun is in the oven as we speak) and two dogs this was our only chose. i love the four door Tacoma but this just ended up being a better truck for my need all around. I think it is aimed for all age groups.

Based on the ones I've seen being driven around here, I definately fit the demographic.

I noticed the number of responders to the thread about which American car a ROC member would chose was interesting as well. At the time I looked through the list Cadillac and Corvette were the top two picks. I think Cadillac was ahead by one at the time I counted up the list. It could have changed by now.

Now here's a questions, as I have noticed this item seems to present on a significant number of Ridgeline owners.

How many Ridgeline owners also own a Rolex watch?

:)

I like how the RL looks, and dont think they need to do anything style, color, or performance wise, it either fits your needs, or not. For me its the perfect commuter vehicle, and weekend chore vehicle.

DITTO! I'm 63 years old and I love the looks of my RL:cool: I would'nt change the color or body style, the mod's that we've done just enhance everything we bought the RL for. For me and "Truckin' it is the perfect all around vehicle;)

Honda made a "Multi Tool" and called it the Ridgeline.:)

I think the demographics for the Ridgeline is not based on age, I believe it's based on IQ. :) Seriously, I see all ages driving the Ridge. I'm 50 and love it! I know kids that are 20 that love it also. The common denominator is that they all seem to be reasonable and smart people who know quality when they see it.

Everyone that I have met, both young and old, that owns a RL seems to have the same demeanor about them. They are not flashy, but practical with a good head on his/her shoulders and a sense of humor. They are people I can hang out with and have an intelligent conversation. Or it can be that we are just all crazy and this is a government plot to identify us.

I'm digging up this old thread because I just noticed something interesting on the Honda Ridgeline Facebook page (which didn't exist when this thread was started). I just visited the page and clicked on "Likes". Some information pops up stating that the page currently has 36,669 "likes" and 171 people "talking about this [page]". It also shows some stats under "page insights" that indicate the most popular age group is 18-24 years old. I realize Facebook is mostly a younger demographic, but I'm surprised to see this age group indicated since it is the least likely to be able to afford a Ridgeline. I guess that doesn't stop the Ridgeline from being desired by them, though.

It's also about how vulnerable the owner is to peer pressure, regarding how others will feel about what a truck should be.

Personally, I feel little peer pressure. I was the first among my friends to do a lot of major things -- career advancement, house, boat, cars and trucks -- everything except marriage (another situation with decision-limiting factors).

Some people don't grow into more independent decision making until later in life, if ever. One of my father's friends never got air conditioning in his cars, when that was an option, because he didn't want his buddies to think he was a wimp. This continued into retirement.

Very interesting. Although completely unscientific, I can't say that I have ever even seen an 18-24 year old driving a RL. And where I live, about 50% of the total population fits into that demographic (University town). Around here there are hundreds of Civics and/or Accords to every one Ridgeline. And roughly 100 to 1 Tacoma to Ridgeline in the small trucks.

Seems to me based on my totally unscientific mental memory poll the Ridgeline drivers are split about 60% male, 40% female and are roughly 40-65 years of age.

In the areas I frequent in the Southeast it seems that most all RL drivers are male and at least 50 years old. I don't recall ever seeing a young kid drive a RL.

The same is true here in Western Colorado (the dry part of the state). The vast majority of RL owners/drivers are older, at least 40s or older. All the younger guys favor Tacomas or Toyota FJs due to their superior off-road capabilities, which are truly needed for most of the local trails.

Twice, I've seen someone under 40 driving a Ridgeline besides myself: Once on the road. Apparently, his speedometer and turn signals weren't functioning because he flew around me faster than the posted speed limit and weaved in and out of traffic without a turn signal. The second was the video on YouTube of the kids jumping a Ridgeline and blowing the air bags.

Then again, my first car was an older Buick when I got my license. Ten years later, I bought a brand new Buick at 26. Perhaps I should start thinking about a Scion, Kia Soul, or Nissan Cube! :)

Ridgeline drivers are mostly older in my area also. I suspect not many 'seniors' are bothering to sign up on Facebook. I use FB minimally myself. At the same time it is refreshing that many younger drivers are looking at the Ridgeline as an option.

I don't think there is an age demographic relevant here. More like an income demographic. Also someone that wanted a pickup until they actually drove one and hated it, and decided on this one because it rides and drives like a reasonably sized SUV, has the coolest interior and appearance of any pickup on the market, doesn't really need a bigger bed and if they ever do, they'll rent/borrow a trailer.

Also keep in mind that before the Ridgeline, the only reliable used pickup truck was the Tacoma. Now that the Ridgeline is 8 years old, you are seeing used 2006-07 models flooding the market at $12-15k which is considered affordable for a reliable used truck.

Ironically, I saw a high-school aged kid driving a black 06-08 model just yesterday on my way home from work. He had a friend in the passenger seat. Not quite sure if it was actually his vehicle or "daddy's truck", but it was in pretty good condition and he looked comfortable driving it. There are three other RL's in my parking lot at work and all of them are driven by guys in their 40's or 50's. I'm 30 and don't necessary fit the demographic majority of what I think RL owners are. I have seen more than a few 30- and 40-something women driving them, but mostly middle-aged men. Nevertheless, as was mentioned, there are more than a few affordable 06-07 models with higher miles out there that could be easily attained for $10-15k. Very different from 5-6 years ago when you couldn't touch even a used one for less than $20k.

Me, either. I'm a single homeowner with no kids, no pets, and nothing to tow. 99.999% of the time, I'm the only item in my Ridgeline that didn't come installed from the factory. I bought my first one in 2007 because someone else had one and I thought it was "neat". I missed it after trading it off, so I bought another one. Of all my vehicles, the only one I've owned longer was a '99 Regal, but that's because I was in school and couldn't afford anything new.

Kids are done with Facebook. They're all over to Twitter.

Not just yet, but it'll happen eventually. MySpace used to be all the rage until it became bloated and slow. The cleaner, simpler Facebook eventually killed it after a lot of resistance. Over the last few years, Facebook has started bursting at its seams with inline advertising (and soon to be intrusive video ads as well). It is becoming a collection of reposts, shares, urban legends, misinformation, recipes, and external links.

Twitter is a different model. There's little to no "profile" capability and there is a strict character limit on each post. It is more of a collection of people's short thoughts to read and comment on than to learn about someone through profile information and photos. You're far more likely to meet a new "friend" for a date on Facebook than Twitter. However, we now have social networking apps for smartphones that show a list of other people who are looking for "dates" and exactly how far away they are - companionship could be as close as your next door neighbor. :)

I would say it is more like they are expanding to 'twitter'... nothing does 'show & tell' better than Facebook at this time.

So, no matter who is driving a RL that I pass on the road, I give a little wave like bikers do. Is that strange? Does anyone else do this? My wife thinks I'm a tool for doing it, but I don't care. :)

I went to pick my wife up at the airport on Tuesday and was starting to park right next to a black RL. I quickly turned away as his driver's door was opening. Turns out he is from W.Va. and has only lived here 6 mos. Drove his Ridgeline from back there, it's a 2012 RTL (w/nav).
So basically made a new friend. He knew nothing about the ROC, not to mention all the little tricks we know about the truck. Hopefully he will check out the forum, I gave him the info.

I'm not sure what area, he had a slight accent, not very strong. I've traveled quite a few states over the years (and can actually understand some of the thickest!) and starting to recognize the origins of some who come to CA.

I would think the demographic for RL owners would be...Intelligent, handsome/good-looking, respectful, thoughtful, articulate, friendly, helpful, honest, hard working, and all-around good people. :act024:

Hmmm... maybe I'll start waving too. I have a motorcycle and used to have a jeep - both those wave. I guess we'll start the Ridgeline wave too.

Actually there's a Ridgeline a few blocks away from where I live that I always see. I kinda want to know who owns it.
